AzRISE Demonstrates Solar Energy at UA Biosphere 2
AzRISE featured the many ways in which solar energy can be put to work for the planet at the annual Earth Day celebration at The University of Arizona's Biospher2.
More than a 1,000 people showed up on the grounds of Biosphere 2 at the day-long celebration of Earth Day, which featured a lengthy visit and comments by Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords. At the AzRISE booth, the power of the sun was easily demonstrated to people of all ages who stopped by to play with an array of solar toys and to learn about the science and technology of fostering the sun’s power. Visitors were able to ask questions of the team that created and built the urban prototype solar car, which has been dubbed "Mallory." The car was also on display and provided attendees a first-hand look at an urban proto-type car that can run on city streets, and with the help of the sun, get more than 1,300 miles to the gallon.
