7th Annual Math Science & Technology Funfest.

The Arizona Research Institute for Solar Energy (AzRISE) participated in the 7th annual Math Science & Technology Funfest, which is held in collaboration with The University of Arizona, Raytheon, SciEnTek-12, IBM, Honeywell, Pima Air & Space Museum, US Expo and the many community schools, at the Tucson Convention Center in November, 2010.

AzRISE faculty and students performed hands-on demonstrations of solar energy and solar power generation for approximately seven thousand third through eighth graders from area schools.  Students engaged their imaginations through interaction with the many AzRISE photovoltaic exhibits and with the AzRISE urban-concept solar car, Mallory.  Overall, more than three hundred professional engineers, scientists and mathematicians from a large range of technology fields participated in the event.

Since its introduction to Tucson in 2003, the popularity and demand for field trips to the Funfest have been overwhelming. The Funfest hosts more than seven thousand students, teachers and parents over the course of the three day event.  The incredible success of the festival has led to the development of the current event which is open to the entire Tucson community and is held each fall.
